ANZAC DAY 2015

On Friday the 24th April, Nelson Park School held their Anzac Assembly. We had our own field of crosses where the last post was played by a past student of the school. Then each house placed a wreath in front of the crosses. It was a lovely service and a wonderful way to end the week leading up to Anzac day. I hope you were able to make one of the Anzac services over the weekend. Please feel free to share your memories for the students to read.

Today for Discovery we are cooking. Children are cutting their own chips and learning how to cook them. Challenges were knowing when they were cooked right through, cutting potatoes and peeling them, not getting burnt, and how hot to have the frypans. Other children were making cupcakes from scratch and icing them. We have two new students, Liv and Kaddison, who joined in with the cooking crew.

Pukemokimoki Marae Experience

What an amazing couple of days we had out at the marae. The children were fantastic at getting involved in activities and looking out for each other. So we had some children volunteer to be out in the kitchen and others who helped during activities. Here are a few snaps but we will have more when we have them downloaded. Also one of the many video clips our class put together. .

Eskdale Fun Day

Friday was an awesome fun filled day with the whole school going off to Eskdale Park. The bus ride was pretty intense with the driver firstly forgetting where we were going and taking us around town and the port. Must of been the kids singing that put him off! The swim was fantastic with everyone having a dip before lunch and then playing some cool games. We returned to school and had an ice block before heading home. What an amazing day!

Discovery Time

What a clever bunch of chefs and builders we have in our classroom.
In one day, we managed to blow the fuses (the smoothie group) so some pikelets and pizzas took longer to cook. So what did they learn? I guess that lemons are not sweet, fry pans are hot, and clean up time takes longer than setting up!
